The Holigent Urban Village is a proposed human scale, walkable community that consists of low, mid and high-rise mixed-use residential and commercial structures. The village will provide light industrial, office, and commercial spaces, a shopping promenade and parks with recreational facilities. Such “live/work” multi-purpose developments will eliminate long commutes by bringing the workplace within close proximity to residences as well as facilitate the transition from sprawl to vertical expansion, from car-dependent to car-free and sustainable living. Holigent Urban Villages will not sprawl beyond their designated capacity to preserve the walkable human scale. To satisfy growing demand, additional villages will be built and joined by a high-speed train or monorail.
The Holigent Urban Village will be a nonprofit development. The community will feature a car-share program that will help facilitate individual’s transition to a car-free lifestyle. The nonprofit-owned complexes will provide affordable housing by rent reduction through community credit (C-credit) earned through community service. Holigent developments will enable the introduction of the hybrid economic arrangement offered by the Delta Plan.
Holigent Urban Village
Holigent Development
Nonprofit, mixed-use, low-carbon, car-free, mass-transit-served, compact urban village in which to live and work.
A Holigent Village is a mixed-use, human-scale, pedestrian community with minimal or no mechanical means of transportation other than electric rail mass transport. The human-scale hub-and-spokes arrangement places all the residents within reasonable walking distance from the transit hub. A park with recreational facilities surrounds the village to add quality to the high-density living.
A Holigent Village will not sprawl but any number of new villages can be built and clustered in a cellular arrangement to accommodate growing demand. Thus the density, the walkable human scale and the open-space-per-unit ratio of
each village are preserved.
Whenever practical, a number of villages may be built with touching boundaries to form a “closely packed” Holigent Town. This arrangement lends itself for eight villages to be built around a central village that will serve as a major civic, commercial and transportation hub.
Any number of villages and towns may be joined by a mass transit system to form a Holigent City. Food and energy farms, water reclamation plants as well as nature preserves are to be located around and between the towns.
